biometrics and msconfig mess up

I was attempting to reduce the amount of stuff linked to my startup by altering the msconfig, but, in doing so, I somehow altered the path to the embedded security chip. Now the computer won't go past the "scanning security chip" message; therefore, I can't get to a screen where I can do a hard or soft boot. Any options short of wiping my hard drive?

Try disconnect the biometric hardware and disabling anything that would allow it to run in the CMOS.
