best way to compress files

which program is the best to use for compressing files? which program will compress them to the smallest size? winzip, winrar?

if possible, i want to compress 5.2 GB of music to a 4.7 GB DVD-R

MPEG 4 might get in down smaller and then you can compress it with winrar even smaller

I use ImToo.......it has all kinds of stuff in it.

imtoo...its a dvd ripper as well

my school is looking for a program like that too, because they have dvd's that they want to convert to cd-size for websites
