My Dad tried using NIS too, on his 5 year old Compaq 900Mhz P3 w/ 512Mb SDRAM. NIS was taking up so much memory that the system took FOREVER to do anything(and I mean 20-30 mins just for windows to completely start up). I told him add another stick of RAM. It helped, but not much. So he went back to Norton 2003. I just thought I add another warning about what a resource hog NIS is, because it really really is.

I've heard of cyber patrol, never used it though. I seem to remembe that being one of the first parental control utilities available, and if it is still out there, it must be good. It stood the test of time. Thanks for the warning about Norton. I've been using Norton for a long time (Actually, 'Symantec' products, but not like theres much difference) but I've been only using the AV products. I think I'll steer clear of Norton, his computer isnt exactly top of the line. I'm gonna grab me cyber patrol though, see how that works out. Thanks for your real responses.
