Best Parental Control Software

So I just set up my brothers own computer, he's 13. It is also in his little studio where no one but him and his friends are. So, being the mother my mom is, she requested I put on parental control locks. Now, I know parental control software is a pain in the ass, it will block out not only the bad sites but also some ones that people need. What is the best sotware out there for completeing my task at hand, which is setting up some internet blocks. Norton, Mcaffee, wor even another better one?

Yeah, but it's pretty limited. Third party software comes with a list of already blocked websites, as well as other little things that block bad activeX and all that good stuff. I know a Firewall will do all that, but I dont want a firewall.

I don't know of any really good ones; from what I know, most of the popular ones could be cracked by a 12-year-old in 10 minutes

Yeah, but thats a computer savvy 12 year old. My brother dosent really know what he's doing on a computer, he's a musician. He could really care less about how computers work, and he dosent have any other computer savvy friends either.

My Dad actually uses Norton Internet Security on this computer, and he's got the URL filtering thing on. From general usage, I'd say it works surprisingly well. Doesn't block any sites I need, and there are frequent updates. However, Norton is known to be a resource hog.

Well, look at it this way.

There is no way you will keep him from seeing the things you don't want him to see. And you putting something thats keeping him from doing so will intice him to go to greater extremes.

Whether its 3rd party software DLing tools, going to friends houses, letting his friends mess with (and probably screw up) the computer... He will get to it.

Just do what you want from MS Windows and leave it at that.

Man, I've seen your posts elsewhere, and, frankly, you're a real jerk. Did you not read where it says 'My mother'? SHE wants it on. Look, I know my brother and he really could care less about cruising where he shouldnt be. It's mainly for his jerk friends that come over and think they are king sh!t and do things they arent suppose to do. But I'm using Windows 2003, so I can lock him out rather well. If I have to, I'll grab Fortress101 or something similar. All I needed was one answer, the one I asked for.
