I was just wondering if anyone had any good programs to do this with-- I just bought a DVD-RW, and now trying to backup approximently 27 GB of data...

The only program I've tried (and seems to be the one everyone mentions) is Nero "BackItUp", but the problem I have with it is that I want to be able to pull files directly off the CD--but cannot do that with Nero's auto-file renaming (most of my files are named too long...especially music). Then the only way to get at it is to guess the file or use the BackItUp program to restore the files!

Just wondering, as I'm sure others have done this before...
thanks, -X

If your up for a read, go check out Norton Ghost. It will backup your entire machine and then you can restore individual files if you wish or the whole thing. Ghost has a very good compression suite and works well for most things. There are a lot of back up programs, but I really like Ghost.

I've used Ghost and it's very powerful. Acronis TrueImage is another one that's very good and that'll be my next try.

Xula, you should take a look at Nero's site and see if they have any documention. Additionally, that program should have some sort of Help files to back up your entire drive.
