Backup question

I hope I'm in the right area to post this, if not, then I apologize now...

Are there any good backup FREEWARE/SHAREWARE programs out there to copy my hard drive onto an external. I keep playing with my system and I'm tired of having to reload everything. I would love to just be able to mirror my external onto my main HD when I do reloads, etc... Thanks in advance...

A lot of external hard drives come with back-up software, but not all.

I made my own external HD so I don't have software, and you know, dummy me, didn't even think to look at MAJORGEEKS before posting... LOL Oh well... Thank you.
