Avg and Norton compatible on same sys.?

i am a beginner and would like to know if i could download avg antivirus and keep norton on the machine or should i uninstall norton first?

Are there any other good av programs? When the hell are they going to come out with a program that does what norton does as well as zonealarm and adaware? Why can't one program sweep your computer for suspicious , malicious stuff, tell you about it and let you decide what to do? Totally confused and about to pick up a soothing drug. P.s. i have xp home.

I have both Norton and AVG running on my system without any problems.

Regarding the 2nd paragraph, you're probably thinking of say, Norton System Works (includes Anti-Virus, Internet Security (which includes a firewall), and various utilities, all installed as separate programs, but I don't think one of them would match the characteristic of Ad-Aware).
