App's Keep Shutting Down....

I have finally got my box going. I have 2000 Pro loaded...
Any time I l use an application or try to play a game the app. will close and exit to windows. Usally the error will say ( CRC. error )
Or this program has generated errors, and must close...

I have spent more time than I should have installing OS.

Is it a drivers conflict or does it sound like I will need to start over?

My Specs:

Video card----Ati 9800 XT
Sound card---Sound audigy 2 ZS
Memory--------Four 512 american patiriot

i have not, to me it sounds like something is wrong with the operating system. possibly your OS is not compatible with your hardware or you may want to reinstall win2k pro from scratch again to see if it fixes it.
