I like AVG, the free version is nice but if you want a better experience just buy AVG... its not all that expensive and its not a resource hog like Symantec's Norton.

also AVG has the worse interface, and whats with the "timed" options? 30 seconds to click on a dialog box?

AVG detects things properly for me, I have no problems whatsoever. But the timed options are a little annoying.

The most efficiant scanner I found yet was Avast Home Edition for Linux. Scans for those scary 19 Linux Viruses but also scans your windows partition for windows viruses while the windows OS is not booted. I love it.

quick question. i downloaded avast yesterday. i also put in a driver installer that came with my comp, and it put an antivirus on my laptop automatically. i am pretty sure its the symantec but im not sure. should i take the avast off my computer?

Never had a problem with AVG, its never missed anything for me.
