Anti Virus problem

I have a problem with my anti virus. Kaspersky keeps slowing down my computer when it runs the real time protection scan and it never finishes. It hinders all my web browsing programs and possibly others too. What can I do to correct this problem?

Im just going to list off thing I can think of....

1: Open Process manager and right click it's process and set priority to something lower...

2: Kill processes using up all your cpu...

3: Goto http://www.grisoft.com or http://www.download.com and get "Avg" the free version.

Avg is a good anti-virus program and it causes little hassle.

Thats all I can think of off the top of my head.

I take it setting the priority lower helped?
