Another question

I bought a new dell D820 laptop recently and it's really nice except there's one interesting problem I have. When I press the power button for less than a second the laptop sends itself into standby mode. When I try to return from standby mode I just...can't. There's a cursor that I can still control and there's nothing else I can do. I can't CTRL ALT DEL or anything like that. Any ideas? thnx

So you're saying when you turn your laptop on from a cold boot, it just goes into standby mode?

When it's on and I close the screen, it goes into standby, which I think is normal. It's just when I press the power button after opening it the computer does nothing but gives me a cute cursor to scroll around with.

go in the power options and change it from standby to turn off
