I'm just wondering if it's possible to have startup items that are hidden (the system tray would be fine too). I looked it up on google, but it kept coming up with ways on the Mac.

Like what exactly? You want to have something startup well it would have to have a process that starts it up which would show up in the task manager and under msconfig. Not to mention the fact you would most likely have to add it to the startup folder. Then the system tray is only if you can hide that icon.

It depends on what you mean by hidden like no desktop shortcuts? Those are easy to remove. Many programs see the do not create startup group where nothing is seen in the Start>Programs group.

If you have a program without a desktop shortcut you can browse with Windows Explorer and drag a shortcut of the executable onto the Start>Programs menu to see it added there. You simply drag that into a folder in the Programs menu like seen in the image here for the System Info for Windows tool.
