500gb WD capacity not showing

Have new 500gb WD internal HD.XP Home,in My Computer,it only shows 138 total.Tried adding to registry new DWORD but that did not correct it.All ok in MB Bios.Have sp1,2,3 and THAT does not fix it.It is sata.Just reformated the other day,did the above,no luck.

If you have XP SP3 then the drive should be able to be used to the full capacity. The 138GB Limit was removed with XP SP2. If you did not have XP SP2 when you reformatted that could be why you are only seeing 138 now. Your best option will be to use a free partitioning tool like GParted to format the drive to the full capacity.

There is also a program called Big Drive Enabler. You might be able to find a download for it somewhere. that could do it as well if i am not mistaken.
