Aye man, I read your post and realised that is exactly what happens to me to. The quick saving/logging off then the huge shut down time.

What I did is a pain in the ***, but I thought id try it anyway. Make an image of your HDD EXCLUDING the windows directory, store it on another partition/hard drive, reinstall windows (delete the partition first, I hate it when people just format over their old one, lol) then put your old HDD back on. You'll have to get your drivers again, and most programs should still work.

Its annoying, so only do it if you really wanna fix it. There's probably an easier way, but this way you get a fresh start without losing your files/settings/programs.
