5.1 channel surround sound on xp 64 bit.

alright here's my problem. on my old xp (normal xp pro) i had my speakers set up as 5.1 channel, i did this by selecting which audio jack was used for each function in my soundmax audio software. Now that i have changed to xp 64 bit i cannot do this as the audio software wont install, just the drivers. i am trying to find a way around this. (i am trying to make like the line out and mix out plugs be used as like front and rear audio.

any help is appreciated.

i dont know, i did the exact same install as the old windows, but the sound works but no soundmax app, with the old one it had an application
