XP not recognising hard drive?

Hey guys,
Just got myself a Dell Inspiron 1520 bog standard model and I am trying to downgrade to XP as its slow as **** with Vista on. Anyone got any ideas why everytime I am trying to install it is telling me that no hard drive exists?
There is nothing wrong with the hard drive as it works fine on vista.
I assume its a driver thing?

Any help, much appreciated

What version of XP are you using? Try a later release with SP3 integrated.

Brand new with sp3 integrated. Not had a problem on any of my other PC's that I have put it on, just the laptop.

Extract the driver from this download and put it on a flash drive. Press F6 when the XP install disc calls for an additional driver. Hopefully you'll be able to point to the flash drive when XP calls for the driver disk to install the driver.
