Default Will this work? (dumb question)

This is the jack in my bedroom that connects my phone.

Its an ethernet cable outlet i believe?

If i plug this into my laptop, will it

1) connect at all?
2) if so, will it be faster?

Sorry in advance if this was really dumb, but ****, we all gotta learn somewhere.

That sir is a phone jack, not an ethernet jack. Different between RJ45 (ethernet) and RJ11 (phone).

The only way that will connect is if you are using a modem on the device you are plugging into that wall and then using a software to dial out and connect to a remote server which will give you internet access.

I assume you are already connected since you said 'faster', so no more than likely you are on wireless and that RJ11 WILL NOT be faster than your WiFi connection.

Yeah that's a phone jack; it ain't gonna fly. Are you having trouble with your wireless connection, then?
