Will this work? (dumb question)

This is the jack in my bedroom that connects my phone.

Its an ethernet cable outlet i believe?

If i plug this into my laptop, will it

1) connect at all?
2) if so, will it be faster?

That sir is a phone jack, not an ethernet jack. Different between RJ45 (ethernet) and RJ11 (phone).

The only way that will connect is if you are using a modem on the device you are plugging into that wall and then using a software to dial out and connect to a remote server which will give you internet access.

I assume you are already connected since you said 'faster', so no more than likely you are on wireless and that RJ11 WILL NOT be faster than your WiFi connection.
