Okay some things to check for. Driver updates, processes running in the background when you leave the PC. Could be a program update or another piece of software preventing it from going into standby. Other than that try this:

Mak, that looks like a pretty thorough guide. I'll spend some time with it over the next couple of days and see if I can solve my stby/hibernate problem with it. Thank you for finding it for me!

It's just an official Microsoft Knowledge Base article that describes what I posted last week. There are no easy answers or quick fixes for the problem. You have to systematically go through every service and program running in the background to find the cause of the problem.

Security programs are the biggest culprits.
