Hi, thanks..
- unfortunately I know no-one with a larger USB drive than I've got to hand to try out or disprove the HP tech's comment.. but the idea of a BIOS limitation could be a possibility, I suppose.
As supplied, the laptop comes with a 250Gb 5400rpm drive, spec sheets maximum offer 320Gb 5400rpm.
By the way, it's a G60 214EM.
Is it possible for the PC to set the speed at which the drive spins? That sounds totally weird to me, and irrelevant to the laptop. After all, all it's going to see is the interface and a FIFO buffer or whatever it is, and the access time and transfer rate (potentially) are shorter/faster.
I think I'll try to find an HP forum and see if anyone has upgraded one or used a larger external drive.
Thanks again!
