I couldn't figure out how to read a .dmp file after I copied them off my dead computer. After messing around for a while I thought screw it, I'll just install ubuntu from the live CD and use that until I get my recovery disk, after going through the setup screens I left the room to let it install later, only to return to see the setup process had crashed... So I rebooted, hoping that it worked. It did not. So now I have screwed things up even more! I have extra partitions for a linux OS that I can't boot into.
