Video card problems?

I'm having a problem with my gateway fx 7815 (i think thats the model #) every now and then i am getting a bunch of horizontal lines on my screen, kinda like when you have a bad signal on a tv, or like when your old nes games were messed up and you would get all those blurry lines. Has anyone seen this happen before? I assume its a problem with the graphics card (9800 nvidia gts m) but not really sure???

Connect it to an external monitor and see if you are getting the same horizontal lines.

More than likely either your monitor is going out or your video card (integrated on the MB). Both are pricey replacements.
