Used laptops

I've been wanting to get a laptop for awhile now. I don't want to spend a ton of money on one, because I want to switch crap out, take it apart, ... use it like a test bed for random linux os' s and the sort.

I want to buy a used one, so I've been checking out craigslist. I hate that everyone thinks their 5 year old laptop with 256 or 512 ram is still worth $400

Thanks for ruining it for me, greedy laptop owners!
