Ah, well check out this link.

I know it's a dell, but it's supposedly the best laptop deal out there.

Even though the E1705's are 64 bit capable, even running a 64 bit OS will not allow you to utilize all 4 GB of memory. The memory controller only allows 3.25 or something like that. You're best off buying 3 GB of RAM if you want to run Vista, and 2 GB for XP.

CPU: Intel i7 2600k @ 4.4 GHz
Cooler: Cooler Master V8
Mobo: ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16 GB DDR3 1600 MHz
GPU: EVGA 560 Ti
HDD: Cruicial M4 SSD 128 GB
HDD 2: WD VelociRaptor 300 GB
PSU: Corsair TX650w
Case: Corsair 600T Graphite Series

I still think that you should just find the highest speed ram your computer can work with (without underclocking) and use that.

Alright, apparently the Windows DMI is what told the scan how much RAM my motherboard can support. Now, is that reliable information relevant specifically to my system, or just some Microsoft bs?
