Just picked up an HP / Compaq NC6220 for my niece. Works great and everything, but I want to install a bigger hard drive. It has a 40GB now, I'd like to put in a 120GB, she'll be storing photos and music on it, so she'll need the room. Anyway, according to HP's site, it will only support up to an 80GB 5400rpm SMART hard drive. Anyway of getting around this, maybe with a partition or something? They even said it wouldn't matter if I updated the BIOS. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Anthony

I honestly don't see why it would only support over an 80GB drive... You'll just need to know if it has an IDE or SATA drive interface.

It shows it as ata. An 80gb hard drive was the largest you could originally purchase with it.

Take a look here for more information on compatible drives depending upon if you need a new caddy or not.

You can get the model number for the size you want and check Newegg.com if they have better prices.
