Lately my HP Pavilion dv4000 freezing without any kind of warning signs. I use Startup Mechanic, RegCleaner and Adaware religiously so I know it's not a resource issue. But I noticed that when I press between the touchpad/keyboard it runs like nothing is wrong. I've stripped it down twice looking for an issue with no luck. My solution was to place two pens (one on each side of laptop)under the area between the keyboard and touch pad. Then put one hand near the screen hinges and one hand near the front speakers and bent the laptop chassis back to OEM shape. I worked from one side to the other and haven't had any freezing problems since. I'm no IT Tech by any stretch of the imagination, but this worked perfectly! Thought I'd share this with everyone. I guess sometimes an older laptop chassis needs to be bent back into shape.
