I have and emachines D620 laptop. this laptop has a AM2 socket. i was curious to see if i could upgrade the cpu as many people told me i could not. i replaced the stock AMD Athlon 2650e 1.6ghz @ 15w with a AMD Athlon x2 5600 2.9ghz @ 65w. i never ran hwmonitor with the old cpu so im not sure what temps were before. but the x2 5600 is showing as follows:

TZS0 - 54c min & 61c max
TZS1 - 53c min & 61c max

core0 - 56c min & 66c max
core1 - 54c min & 66c max

hwmonitow was opened up a while after general tasking and i browsed the net, backed up a dvd and played some unreal tournament 99 while hwmonitor was taking readings.

I would like to get the temps down and I am willing to sacrafice some performance since i should still be way better off then i was with the 2650e. i am not an over or underclocker so any help would be awesome!!!

I don't know if you can increase the fan speed on a laptop, im sure there is a program for it somewhere. Might take some googling.

I don't think you can decrease the clock since most CMOS setups are locked on laptops.

Might be able to change clock within windows with a program such as clockgen.
