Two lappies on a budget

I have 800$ for one and 1400$ for the second.
The 800$ is strictly for Word processing and doing lots and lots of paperwork.
The 1400$ is a weak gamer computer mostly to play old lan games without lag.

Can anyone throw a hint? I'm clueless when it comes to laptops.

I'd spend less on the office one and maybe more on the gaming one.

I've heard good things about the dell vostros. Of course everybody loves Thinkpads...the new ideapads are apparently for gaming, but I haven't used them.
