Hi guys, I bought a Toshiba Satellite a305 s6916 laptop a couple months ago for $450 as an open demo item and it did not come with recovery discs. However, it did come with windows 7 upgrade disks. (originally had Vista Home Premium 64 bit.) I was having trouble with the drivers so i upgraded to windows 7 and it fixed it.

Anyways, my home desktop just completely broke, (software wise im guessing) and my dad took it to best buy. I was wondering how to do a clean install on my laptop and get rid of everything if I ever have any problems. Im not sure if this laptop has a hidden partition or not, and was wondering how to reformat the laptop if needed.

I don't want to go out and buy windows 7 os disk. No $$$!!!

Thanks guys!

Hi,

See: Clean install Windows 7 with upgrade media.

It's a simple matter of booting into the upgrade disc, selecting 'Custom install', deleting / creating / formatting partition(s) when prompted and then installing Windows 7. You can then activate Windows 7 using the product key once in the desktop.

Since your system qualifies for a Windows 7 upgrade, this method is legally permitted.
