Toshiba BIOS help

I have a Toshiba laptop that I bought while in California (now in South Carolina). I have lost contact information to the original owner and can not get into the BIOS because of the password. I have tried flashing the BIOS and it seems to take, but the password is still there. Some site have said to cross out two spot on the motherboard, but that scares me. Does anyone know how to reset this password where I will have access to the bios?

If you know where the BIOS battery is, take that out for a few minutes. There are tools to do this as well, but I would not reccomend it.

Is there software that I can reset the password with?

Yes, but I have not used them. Wait for someone else or Google may be your friend.

Toshiba BIOS password is usually just 'Toshiba'...try that.

You fell victim to the Toshiba BIOS problems that they had. Where there was a glitch in the BIOS that set a password that you never knew about. There is no way for you to fix it. You can reset it by removing the battery, you can reflash the BIOS, you cant do anything but contact Toshiba and have one of their technicians fix it for you.
