No I never said you stole it, but you know he stole it and yet you use it, therefore you are eligible too. Not only is receiving stolen property unethical, but it's also a crime. Depending on the value, it could even be a felony. By publicly posting that you knew it was stolen, you blew your one defense of ignorance.

Your second mistake would be receiving a laptop that could potentially be equipped with LoJack. LoJack claims a 90% recovery rate, and knowing as you have stated that the laptop is stolen, are you really ready to take that chance?
