I am thinking of buying a sony VPCCB190X laptop for my wife. Primarily it would be used for viewing movies and playing them on our flat screen tv, but it would be used for other things too.

This is the custom configuration we were considering, $979.99

# AMD Radeon™ HD 6630M (1GB VRAM) hybrid graphics with Intel® Wireless Display technology
# 320GB Hard Disk Drive (5400rpm)
# No Engraving
# No Fresh Start
# Norton Internet Securityâ„¢ 2011 (30 Day Trial)
# Microsoft® Office 2010 Starter (Click More Info for details.)
# White
# Sony® Imagination Studio™ Suite
# Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium 64-bit
# 15.5" Full HD VAIO Premium Display (1920x1080)
# 4GB (2GBx2) DDR3-SDRAM-1333
# Intel® Core™ i5-2410M processor (2.30GHz) with Turbo Boost up to 2.90GHz

What do you guys think? A good choice?

Thanks

Where are you buying this from? Directly from Sony? I think it's a little overpriced.

For what you want, it should be fine. Just be sure to kill Norton. ;)

We are looking at Sony online. The wife likes the Sony brand, but I am willing to look at other models with similar specs. I have little experience with laptops and am eager to hear other opinions.

Actually I would try to build the thing myself, except I've heard building laptops is not a good idea.

Got that right. Building laptops are a dead end.

I'll look around for some later.

Edit: Oh, I didn't see that. Your CPU is based off the new Sandybridge CPU. That's a steal... Go for it!
