Sony Vaio Screen Flickering

Hey all I am trying to diagnose a problem for a friend of mine. She has a Sony Vaio VGN-CS-110D which she says the screen is all of a sudden is flickering. I am playing with it right now and it only flickers when the power adapter is unplugged. Seems like the Lcd screens back lighting. At first i thought it was flickering when i was playing with it like moving the top screen part opening and closing it. But it seems to do it just sitting there on its own.

I'm thinking it might be a lighting issue or a loose connection or a loose solder joint but with that being said it works fine when the adapter is plugged in. I am stumped.

Any one have any suggestions?

Since this only happens on battery, I would take the battery out, and make sure the connectors are clean, take a soft moist cloth and wipe down the metal parts. On the battery and the connectors on the laptop.
