Slow laptop.

Well, about a month or two ago my laptop started getting slow when using it, just over all slow and the browsers are just as bad with media files lagging and some times when I'm typing in facebook chat and I make a mistake a go to backspace it just freezes up, any ideas how to fix it or what it could be?

AVG, Malwarebytes & Spybot have come back clean.
I've turned most things off on start-up.
System is defragged.
All drivers are up to date.
70% free space on hard drive.

Try running a chkdsk on the laptop to see if that helps any.

Start > type in 'cmd' > right click > Run as Admin > type in the following:

chkdsk c: /f /r

Press Enter. It will say it cannot lock the drive and ask to run on next reboot. Type Y and hit Enter, and then reboot and let it run the chkdsk. This could take a while to run, depending on the size of the drive.

Thanks for the fast reply, I've done what you've recommended but it took two seconds and said that the ''volume is clean'', any other things I could try that you can think of?

Made sure that all your drivers and software (browsers, flash, java, etc.) are up to date?

Yup, all of the above are up to date. I'm sounding like a parrot but, anything else?

Below average, doesn't seem to get worse the higher it lower it goes.

Operating system: legal, or torrent version?

I certainly hope its legal, I bought it in Argos

If OS legal than you should have a sticker with key on the buttom of your PC or Windows installation CD some where it depends of license type
