yo,

In terms of troubleshooting desktop PCs, im alright :p

I've been given a laptop, and the headphone jack gives out intermittant sound at varying qualities and you can wiggle the jack.

Obviously, i think the jack needs to be reattached. Scale of difficulty? and any tips on dismantling laptops down to the board.

i'm not new to the soldering iron, but i'm no pro.

Depends on if the jacks are attached directly to the board or if they're on a separate card.

Varies from laptop-to-laptop. Just make sure you remember where all your screws went originally (using an ice-cube tray, and labeling the screw trays are a good idea.. making a rough sketch of the bottom of the laptop and where all the screws go is sometimes not a bad idea either). You can try to find a service manual online for the laptop as well, and see if it gives diagrams / instructions on how to tear it all the way down.
