I have a Toshiba Satellite L25-S1217 laptop and the screen doesn't work. It has vertical colored lines on it. I have been told it is probabl the video card. How do I change the video card (chip) and where do I find a new one?

From what i can tell. This has integrated GFX. So you would have to take out the mother board. Un mount the gFX chip from the mother board and find a GFX chip to fit in there and then re mount it.

It cant be replaced by you. Would have to send it in for repair.

Probably can't be done. The person who told you the video card needs to be replaced obviously A)doesn't know you are dealing with a laptop, B)doesn't know what they are talking about.

9.9 out of 10 times you cannot replace just the video card in a laptop. You will either have to have the entire motherboard replaced, or take it back to the manf where they can swap out the onboard video chip (assuming they even provide that service).

Either you will need to replace the entire screen, OR replace the inverter.

Mak beat me...

This is a no go. Only a small percentage of laptops can have their internal video replaced and this one isn't one of the lucky few.
