I was wondering if anyone knows if there is any software that exists or that is being developed that would take your current laptop memory environment and make a quick image of it so that it could be quickly moved to a virtual machine on your desktop pc say by gigabit ethernet or wireless N? I have used Ghost before but I think that the process of converting the image from raw data to a virtual disk file (ie vmdk or vdi) could be merged with an imaging software that could merge and simplify the process. Would have to be open source too!
This probably already exists right? I'm sure a script that has say Virtualbox's vboxmanage and Clonezilla working together to make and then convert the image could be employed and than copies the file to a network share but it wouldn't be very graceful.
