Been trying to connect my laptop to my pretty HDTV with varying levels of success, I've been using a HDMI to HDMI cable, and so far I'm only able to get video to transfer successfully. I assumed that the HDMI cable would be able to transfer audio as well, but the only time I was able to do this was using skype for some reason, and other than that I'm still stuck only seeing video. The HDMI port doesn't have any other audio extensions, so I'm not quite sure what I'm doing wrong. Any ideas?

Good, just was checking your laptop supported audio out via HDMI (some don't)
Make sure you've got the sound output set to digital out.
edit: also, make sure you've got the latest graphics drivers downloaded. If you post up your laptops model number I can find it for you.
