Default Possible to use laptop as monitor?

Can I use my laptop as a display monitor for my desktop. My laptop only has a female VGA.

Hmm, I would think you could, but you would need a male/male cable

The best you can do is install something like UltraVNC in full screen mode and clone your display onto your laptop screen. But you generally can't connect your desktop to your laptop unless you had a tv tuner card on your laptop.

TV TUNER:
Plug in your desktops TV-out into your laptops tv tuner.

VNC:
Install VNC server on desktop.
Run VNC viewer in full-screen mode on laptop.

you can do it, I don't know why none of you have heard of this. With this program, you don't actually hook up your laptop monitor to your other computer, but rather you link them over the network. Then, the laptop monitor becomes an extended desktop of the main computer. The program is called MaxiVista(it has noting to do with MS Vista) and here is a free trial: MaxiVista - Download free trial

It works really well. I use it all the time with my old laptop that just has a wireless-b network card.
