Overheating?

Hi, Im a computer noob and was wondering whats going on with my laptop. Idle, my gpu runs at 63 deg, which is pretty freakin high on idle. When I play games, or **** even watch a few HD movies my comp decides to shut off automatically. My question is basically if I do nothing but surf the web and stay away from graphics intensive activities, will my gpu keep degrading and eventually kill my pc? thanks.

I take this is a laptop, being in this section. Laptop GPUs are known to be hot on idle. It has little space to move around that air. The best you can do is clear out the vents on the side of your laptop. 63C isn't really hot. Just turn down the features in games, and you should be better.
