no Internet on battery

I have a friend who has a new Toshiba laptop and a new Clear wireless modem/router. As long as the computer is plugged in to the wall, Internet access is fine, but when she goes to battery power, then she loses the connection, Nothing else changes. Anybody have any ideas on how to help her?

Windows 7? if you go to power options, in power options look for "change plan settings" on whatever you're using.

in the advanced options for that plan you can find the option that turns off your wireless/network card etc when you get a low battery.
that should fix the problem.

Go into Device Manager. Click on Network adapters. Click on your wireless card, double click, go to Power Saving tab. Uncheck everything you can. Should be 3 boxes.

the power options are making it disable network on battery to save battery life... the above solutions will work!
