New SSD Upgrade help.

Trying to help my freind upgrade his laptop hard drive to a ssd.

Used Acronis Trial to make the backup, then booted to the usb stick,, found the backup image, but Acronis doesn't see the new SSD to plop it back on to. Acronis if it wasn't trial, could activate it, but it's not.

How can we get the drive Active? We do have a usb kit and 2nd computer at our disposile

Why not just use Parted Magic (GParted + CloneZilla) .

Cause I knew how to use Acronis

Parted Magic isn't hard; quite straightforward actually.

Turns out his usb to sata adapter was mucking up. The drive wasn't properly being setup.
