I bought my new memory and I plan on installing it this evening. I have a Dell Inspiron and if everything the manual says is accurate the install seems pretty straight forward. But I'm a tech dummy so is there anything special I should do/know before I start?

Unplug the power supply from the wall. Press the power button a few times to discharge any residual power. Then make sure you touch the case before pulling the old modules out or putting the new memory in.

Thanks much everyone. Did all that...read the instruction and from start to finish the whole process took less than 2 minutes and no problems. Really easy.

Yep ram is the easiest thing to install, especially on laptops. There's really no trick to it, just a few screws, insert it, and close it back up. Installing a hard drive and usually even an optical drive into a laptop is really not much harder.
