I went with XP, but that's because I already had a copy of vista. As for the wireless card, I had heard of problems with the dell ones, so I upgraded to the intel 3945. It seems to have pretty good reception, and I don't get any disconnects or things like that.
I went with the vostro 1500. I don't like smaller screens. But again it depends on what you do with your lappy. If you are wanting to game, I'd think you would want a decent sized screen. But all-in-all you're going to get a good laptop. Hope you like it.
