I need a new HDD for my compaq R3000 laptop, the last one failed due to age.

I was thinking this one MK4034GSX Product Page, but I'm not sure if it will be compatible.

In short, I require an HDD that is compatible with the Compaq R3000 series of laptops.

That one most likely won't work. I believe that R3000, being 2-3 yeras old, uses 2.5" IDE hard drives, not a SATA one like this. I'll research a bit more and post some models for you to check out in a little bit.

Yep, it uses IDE (ATA-6 you might see it called, too) hard drives. Any of these will do:
Newegg.com - Buy Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, Digital Cameras and more!

I'd recommend staying away from the Toshiba and Hitachi drives. They're commonly used by big name manufacturers but rarely seem to last longer than 2 or 3 years tops. Western Digital or Seagate have considerably longer warranties and I've had much better luck with them.
