Need help on choosing a laptop

OK. I need a new laptop. Now, I need to know which laptop I should get.

I play The Sims 3, but the disks are multi-platform so they will work on Mac. I need decent RAM [2gb+], so any help is appreciated.

Min HDD: 320gb
Min RAM: 2gb
OS: Any really. I'm used to using Linux and Windows, but Mac wouldn't be a problem.
Optical drive: Optional. Easier if built in but not necessary.
Pre-installed software: Some sort of Office (OpenOffice full or Microsoft Office trial)

I intend mainly to be using this laptop for schooling, so I would say Windows was better as my school uses Windows. I would also have the occasional Skype call and I would play the odd Sims 3 game.

What is your budget? What are you going to use it in school for? Just taking notes, or more? Do you need good battery life, or will it be on AC most of the day?

Buy the Dell Inspiron 14R. I will meet all your requirements 2GB RAM, 320GB hard disk, windows 7 home basic and it also good for gaming purposes.
