In need of a DVD drive/burner, suggestions?

I have an older Compaq Presario V2000 laptop that came stock with a cd drive/burner and I'm looking to upgrade to either a DVD drive/burner or possibly even a Blu drive/burner (do these even exist yey??) Just a quick question though, do I have to look for a specific kind of drive that will be compatible will my older laptop? Also, if anyone can find a good drive from here: The Apple Store (U.S.) that would be best, or if not, something from newegg works too.
