What's the maximum you can spend? $300? You can get a new laptop with better specs for as little as $400 nowadays if you can stretch it.
If you're on a really tight budget, then this laptop would seems be adequate for your needs, despite its low and outdated specs.
If you know where to look, and you're a careful shopper, refurbished laptops can save you a lot of money. For example, I bought an refurbished ultraportable notebook off ebay for just £350 when it's current retail price is around £1200. Excellent condition too. Be aware of the current condition of the laptop and whether there is retailer or manufacturer warranty, and be sure to know what the terms for the warranty is.
