Default Looking to buy a new laptop, suggestions?

Hey guys, I'm looking for a new laptop but i'm not too sure which ones are the best for a good price. I'm hoping that I dont need to go over 500 but i want as much quality for my money as possible.

I want it to be able to run some newish games, ie Spore and Sims 3 without me having to change the settings to minimum to stop it lagging. I want it to come with windows 7 'cause i heard that's important to have. I want it to be able to steam videos online good enough that they are actually watchable. The main thing i need is for it to survive my time in uni (4 years) as i won't be able to afford to buy a new laptop during my time there.

Thanks for your help

George is a friend of mine I recommended to join the site to ask for advice when we were talking about laptops. I personally advised him with this Lenovo, which I think is great value for the price. However, I'm not the best with computers, he took my advice to come here. ^_^

Hi George. Your friend is right. Lenovo is an all go. It will last you for 4 years. But that one posted is a little too old. DDR RAM, Pentium CPU. Being that, I do not think a Lenovo is good in your price range.

This one is on sale: Acer Aspire 5740 Laptop - Laptops | Ebuyer.com

Has a better RAM, and i3 CPU.

Cheers for the advice.

Another friend of mine has suggested this: HP G72-101sa Laptop - Laptops | Ebuyer.com

I'm a bit wary of buying HP 'cause the last one i had a poor design meaning it would overheat very easily. What do you think of it?
