Which laptop would be the best for gamingand overall performance?

If you need the extra HDD space, go with the HP. That is about the only difference I see.

Both have a very good graphic card. The 555m and the 6850m are well matched.
Both have 8GB RAM and same screen size.

It all depends on what else you need to do on it, and what you are leaning towards more.
